Zinwave will showcase its wideband distributed antenna solution (DAS) technology at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona (27 Feb to 2 March 2017). The company describes is technology as one that ‘removes many of the traditional issues and considerations associated with delivering multiple in-building wireless services’.
The company believes that it is well placed to solve some of the coverage and capacity issues end users are grappling with. The emergence of trends such as Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and wireline replacement, and new wireless technologies and capabilities such as Internet of Things (IoT), means that operators and building owners are under increasing pressure to build a network that delivers the coverage and capacity required.
What’s more, with the increasing demand for bandwidth in the workplace and public venues, and the continuing shift towards offload for mobile networks resulting in such things as Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi), LTE-U and Multefire, we are beginning to see the convergence of licensed mobile and unlicensed services (including Wi-Fi) to support wireless voice and data needs – but today the two often don’t work well together.
Zinwave argues its DAS technology can accommodate future changes such as new frequencies or protocols without needing to replace any core hardware, making it flexible, future proof and cost effective.
This capability is critical to efficiently and economically accommodate and adapt to the rapidly changing wireless world. And this is particularly true as 5G and associated technologies become a reality, Zinwave points out.
At and around the show, Zinwave will be making a number of significant announcements, which its CEO, Scott Willis, and CTO, Slavko Djukic will be discussing at the Zinwave stand. These announcements include new, breakthrough solutions for the in-building wireless delivery of mobile, public safety and unlicensed band services such as LTE-U all on a single platform.
In addition, they will be discussing a simplified method of connecting small cells and DAS, plans regarding support of 5G, as well as a major new deployment with one of the biggest broadband and TV companies in the UK.
Zinwave can be found at MWC at Stand 5J51, Hall 5.
