Zyxel Communications has launched it XGS4600 Series of 802.11ac Wi-Fi switches. The series is described as a premium line of 28-port Gigabit Layer 3 Managed switches with 4 SFP+ Uplink. It comes in two models: XGS4600-32 and XGS4600-32F.
802.11ac has changed the way businesses support the large quantity of devices connecting to their corporate networks. Such demands are commonly found in hotels, schools, SMBs and many other places where activities like multimedia streaming, VoIP, video surveillance and constant connectivity among multiple users can easily overload the network and reduce business productivity.
The Layer-3 stackable XGS4600 Series comes with Gigabit connectivity and four integrated 10-Gigabit SFP+ slots, which enable high-speed uplink connections. The Series also features dynamic routing to simplify cross-subnet communications to significantly increase network coverage and resiliency.
Zyxel said the XGS4600 Series boasts high stackability and fault-tolerant networks. It offers physical stacks of up to 4 units created through one or two 10-Gigabit SFP+ slots, managed as one switch.
The new flexible stacking topology under the ring architecture ensures the system can quickly use another stacking connection if the existing one fails, offering enhanced reliability. The switches are designed to support active-standby power redundancy allowing a backup power supply to take over in case the main one fails.
Future-proof network design
Quick, painless and successful migration path from IPv4-based networks to a full IPv6 infrastructure has been on the minds of many IT departments around the world. The XGS4600 Series can be managed via CLI, which is consistent with Zyxel managed switches, the company said.
As the IP address scheme evolves to accommodate a growing number of network devices, the Zyxel XGS4600 Series assures protection for any enterprise’s investments in future network upgrades. Zyxel has also embedded an ultra-intuitive Web-based GUI to further increase the productivity of skilled network administrators.
Crowley Wu, senior AVP of Zyxel Networking Business Unit commented:, “As every enterprise’s networking ally, Zyxel XGS4600 Series helps reduce maintenance efforts as well as the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for enterprise users. Today’s mobile devices are consuming more bandwidth than ever, increasing the necessity for a robust switching solution.”
Both the XGS4600-32 and XGS4600-32F are GbE L3 Managed switches with 4 SFP+ Uplink. The XGS4600-32 offers 24 x GbE RJ-45 ports, whereas the XGS4600-32F offers24 x GbE SFP slots.
