LANCOM Systems releases new emergency power supply solution

LANCOM Systems is expanding its product range with a specialised uninterruptible power supply (UPS) - the LANCOM Battery Pack, which is designed to provide up two hours of emergency power supply.

The LANCOM Battery Pack is engineered to be an emergency power supply for business-critical LANCOM network components. In case of a power outage, it powers up to two LANCOM routers or access points for at least two hours. The Battery Pack is designed for securing critical services including elevator emergency and hazard detection systems that are connected via a LANCOM router.

In combination with a LANCOM 4G router, the solution is also suitable for providing highly available Internet connections. When the mains power supply fails, the Internet remote station (DSLAM) is often affected too. In this situation, a 4G router connected to the Battery Pack provides backup Internet access via the 4G network. The LANCOM Battery Pack simultaneously supports up to two LANCOM routers or access points.

Status monitoring by LANmonitor or the Large Scale Monitor
Battery levels, charge cycles, or the temperature of the Battery Pack are all monitored by means of the LANCOM network monitoring tools. This provides an instant overview of how long network operations can continue in the event of a power outage, or when the Battery Pack needs recharging.

Alerts via e-mail, SYSLOG, and SNMP
In emergency cases, the administrator receives alerts about events such as power failure or low battery charge via e-mail, SYSLOG and SNMP. Administrators can quickly react to incidents and avoid extended periods of downtime.
