ZTE aids China Unicom’s first commercial VoLTE trial

China Unicom has launched a commercial trial of voice over LTE (VoLTE) high definition (HD) voice services in Henan province in central China with ZTE as its technology provider. ZTE has provided China Unicom with end-to-end VoLTE solutions, including voice over WIFI (VoWiFi), VoLTE HD video and audio and Rich Communications Services (RCS) for China Unicom.

4G subscribers in Henan can now access HD voice and the improved call quality and high fidelity it enables. The Henan VoLTE project is one of the seven trial sites in China and is the first province to realise VoLTE commercialisation for China Unicom.

During construction ZTE helped China Unicom establish First Call on the existing network infrastructure, enabling the telecommunications operator to gain a leading position as a provider of VoLTE networks.

“We’re pleased to be the exclusive provider for China Unicom as they launch enhanced VoLTE service in Henan,” said Gong Dehua, vice president of Core Network Products at ZTE. “This project is testament to ZTE’s industry leading expertise in VoLTE and the solutions that dramatically improve user experience.”
