WIND Mobile has chosen to work with Nokia Networks as its sole network infrastructure provider and innovation partner to bring advanced LTE network technology to Canadians. Nokia Networks will deploy cloud-based core technologies, which will enable WIND Mobile to implement VoLTE, VoWi-Fi and IMS services.
By implementing these technologies, offloading its voice traffic and better utilising its spectrum, WIND will more than double network capacity and speed, achieve substantial network efficiency gains and deliver a better network experience for its customers.
Under the five-year deal, Nokia Networks will provide a comprehensive end-to-end solution that includes deployment of new radio LTE, LTE virtualised core and OSS (NetAct to support the LTE and core elements). The company will also deploy a full cloud-based core based on OpenStack, which will include all of the elements: IMS, HSS, VoLTE, VoWi-Fi and Evolved Packet Core.
The modernisation of WIND's network will involve network implementation, network planning and optimization and care services in order to ensure consistent quality and a successful upgrade. Nokia Networks will also provide cloud wise services, including systems integration for VoLTE and packet core deployment.
