Networking specialist devolo has launched its smart home technology range, Home Control, in the UK. Home Control provides a DIY solution for those looking to take advantage of the comfort, ease, security and energy savings home automation offers.

The Z-Wave based system, which is now available from selected retailers and online stores, includes components for adjusting light settings, monitoring temperatures and providing automated home security alerts.

Home Control is set up and controlled through the ‘My devolo’ interface, which allows users to programme an extensive range of scenarios based on the environment and selected inputs. Once programmed through the web browser version, users can also monitor and control their smart home set-up through the ‘My devolo’ iOS and Android apps.

In addition to the system’s central unit, the full range of Home Control components includes motion sensors, door and window contact sensors, smoke detectors, radiator controls, room thermostats and metering plugs, meaning the key areas of heating, lighting and security are all controllable.

Home Control, which recently received an “Excellent Protection” rating from security specialist AV-TEST, is open to other externally manufactured Z-wave products and is set to introduce interoperability with IP-based hardware from other manufacturers, such as IP speakers, in the coming months.

devolo is also planning further integration, which would make products from other smart home systems such as Philips Hue, Netatmo and Nest compatible with Home Control – a move which will further increase the functionality available to the user.
