Android 4.2 OS now on Handheld NAUTIZ eTicket Pro II

Handheld Group’s NAUTIZ eTicket Pro II rugged mobile ticket validation and fare collection device is now available with the Android 4.2 operating system, as well as Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5.

The ticketing device and data collector features a built-in Arcontia smart card reader and a high-performance 2D imager. The device weighs just 335 grams (11.8 ounces) and is built for use in harsh outdoor and industrial environmental conditions including rain, extreme temperatures and bright sunlight.

The Nautiz eTicket Pro II has been deployed by transportation agencies in cities around the world, including Houston, Lisbon and Prague. It has also been deployed with passenger ferry companies like Jadrolinja.

By offering the customer’s choice of Android 4.2 or Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5, Handheld said it will expand the number of agencies and users looking for fast and secure ticketing transactions.

“Improving efficiency and profitability are two of the Nautiz eTicket Pro II’s greatest talents. But we also know from customer feedback that transit workers find the unit very comfortable to hold and work with. IT departments appreciate its flexibility in reading many types of data. And administers value the extra security provided by two Secure Access Module (SAM) slots,” said Johan Hed, director of product management for Handheld Group.

The Nautiz eTicket Pro II has an IP65 ingress protection rating and meets t MIL-STD-810G military test standards for overall durability and resistance to humidity, shock, vibrations, drops, salt and extreme temperatures.

Multiple connectivity options including high-powered 3G and Wi-Fi keep users connected wherever they work, and an integrated u-blox GPS receiver offers built-in navigation functionality for transit fieldworkers.
