Ericsson and China Telecom have partnered to deploy Ericsson’s LTE Radio Dot system in two of the country’s coastal provinces, Zhejiang and Guangdong. This is the first implementation of its kind in Mainland China and the Radio Dot systems are now in commercial service.
China Telecom’s Zhejiang and Guangdong branches implemented their LTE Radio Dot systems in two varied indoor environments – new buildings and modified venues. China Telecom’s Guangdong branch achieved the first carrier aggregation of 20MHz (1.8GHz) + 20MHz (2.1GHz), which is based on LTE Radio Dot Systems and enables 300 Mbps speeds for users. At the same time, it was able to achieve strict control of signal leaks and seamless switching between the Radio Dot Systems and the outdoor macro station.
China Telecom has lately ramped up investment in building a superior 4G LTE network throughout China to provide a fast and undisrupted 4G wireless network. A major task facing the operator is how to enhance its indoor 4G network performance and achieve a better user experience for the subscribers.
Chris Houghton, Head of Region North East Asia at Ericsson, said: “We have received very good feedback from China Telecom on the Ericsson Radio Dot System’s excellent performance, ease of deployment and cost-efficiency. Ericsson will continue to assist China Telecom and other operators in the country with innovative solutions to provide the best network coverage and speed.”
