Motorola Solutions and Skyscape Cloud Services to deliver cloud-based communications interoperability and command collaboration functionality to UK government agencies

Motorola Solutions offers cloud-based safety solutions for UK cities

Motorola Solutions has got together with Skyscape Cloud Services to provide cloud-based public safety solutions to UK government agencies. The agreement will enable the two companies to offer mission critical solutions using a cloud-delivered software-as-a-service model.

Cloud computing solutions use a network of remote servers to store, manage and process data, using shared resources to achieve economies of scale. The UK government-operated G-Cloud programme is an established mechanism for the delivery of cloud-based services.
As a UK SME, Skyscape’s cloud solutions have been specifically designed to meet the needs of the UK public sector using pay-by-the-hour consumption models. Skyscape has already won a number of contracts via the G-Cloud Framework and through its large number of channel partners that embed Skyscape’s cloud platform in their solutions.

For Motorola, therefore, partnering with Skyscape delivers immediate credibility and experience to establish a leading presence as a supplier of cloud-based products to government agencies. Motorola envisions the controlled operational expense of cloud-based delivery, with low to no upfront capital expenditure of multiple products and services such as:

• WAVE Work Group Communications providing communications interoperability and broadband push-to-talk (PTT), delivering real-time voice and data securely over any network using any device
• DragonForce for collaborative command and control, shared situational awareness and incident management.

“We see the delivery of cloud-based public safety services as an absolute imperative,” said Andrew Gill, vice president, growth and alliances, Europe & North Africa, Motorola Solutions.

“This partnership places us in a leading position to support government policy and initiatives such as Cloud First and the G-Cloud Framework, bringing secure communications interoperability, command and control collaboration, and a wealth of next-generation services to the front line where it is needed most.”

Simon Hansford, CEO of Skyscape Cloud Services, said: “With pressure on public finances set to continue, we look forward to supporting Motorola Solutions in delivering agile services to the public sector market and, ultimately, better value for British citizens and taxpayers.”
Skyscape’s extensive partner ecosystem will also be of value in further developing Motorola Solutions’ future offerings, both for use on G-Cloud and in future regional offerings.

Skyscape’s full range of services are Pan Government Accredited (PGA) up to IL3. This makes it services suitable for all data at OFFICIAL (including OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE) and connected to government networks, including the Public Services Network (PSN), the N3 health network and others.

Its services are delivered with leading technologies from the Skyscape Cloud Alliance Partners: QinetiQ, VMware, Cisco, EMC and Ark Data Centres.
