CCW 2015: Athonet enhances PriMo with LTE broadcast and VoLTE capabilities

Athonet has evolved its PriMo LTE in a box product, already deployed in real emergency scenarios such as the earthquake disaster that struck Italy in 2012, to support the critical features that can make all this possible: LTE Broadcast (eMBMS) and Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE).

The company says that public safety officials or a mission-critical industrial workers could efficiently share real-time video from a body-worn camera with colleagues and an operations centre while being involved in a group call.

These kinds of applications can be achieved in real-time (vocal commands given based on what is happening at that moment) without overloading the network with a large number of video streams and using only a compact network infrastructure that could fit in a vehicle, or even a rucksack.

Athonet has also teamed up with Kudelski Security to build an additional layer of security for 4G LTE. Kudelski enables secure, self-contained mobile network infrastructure supporting UMTS, HSPA, LTE and Wi-Fi technologies running on COTS hardware. Services include end-to-end voice encryption for mobile and desktop devices, secure data sharing and real-time monitoring and advanced threat intelligence.
