CCW 2015: TCCA announces Mladen Vratonjic as new chair

The TCCA announced at Critical Communications World in Barcelona that Mladen Vratonjic will be the new Chair of the association. Mladen takes over from Phil Godfrey, who is retiring as Chair after a combined 14 years’ service.

Vratonjic’s appointment was approved at the TCCA’s Annual General Meeting held during the Critical Communications World event in Barcelona. Vratonjic has 33 years’ experience in telecommunications, including ten in public safety. He was responsible for all telecommunication systems for the Serbian police and fire brigades including the emergency call centres and Serbia’s public safety TETRA network.

He is an expert of Geneva DCAF (Democratic Control of Armed Forces), former chair of the Western Balkans Telecommunications Committee for improvement of cross-border cooperation, vice-chair of the Advisory Board and of the Operations Committee at EENA (European Emergency Number Association).

Retiring chair Phil Godfrey has led the TCCA twice. He was one of the founding members of the TETRA MoU in 1994 while working for Philips and was elected to the position of chair in 1998 for a three year period. He was asked to take the position again in 2004.

TCCA CEO Phil Kidner said: “On behalf of what has become a global organisation with significant influence in the critical communications world, I would like to thank Phil for all he has achieved for the TCCA.

“From the original six members of the MoU, we now have more than 150 member organisations worldwide, have driven the deployment of TETRA in more than 135 countries, and have become an authority on the development of LTE for future critical communications services.

“We welcome Mladen to a strong and stable association which is looking forward to a future as successful as its past.”
