Hytera Mobilfunk, the German arm of Chinese PMR manufacturer Hytera, has won the tender for the renovation of the emergency services TETRA communication system in the Netherlands, known as C2000.
The Ministry of Security and Justice in the Netherlands announced the preliminary result of the public tender for the renovation of the communication system for public safety organisations in the Netherlands (C2000) on Thursday 5 March 2015.
Hytera Mobilfunk has been preliminary awarded the tender for Lot 1 of the contract. In 2014, the renovation of C2000 was put out to public tender and was divided into 3 Lots. Lot 1 comprises the upgrade of the TETRA voice and data communication system (T2000) between the control centres and task forces; Lot 2 covers the paging system for alarms (P2000); and Lot 3 involves upgrades to the control centres.
The ministry´s evaluation took into account both the price and quality of the offers. A team of experts was involved in the tender and evaluation. After a 20-day period for objections the tender becomes final and the project will enter the contract and implementation phase.
A number of important improvements will be realized on the new communication system. These include providing additional capacity to handle major events and catastrophes, improved coverage and the ability to encrypt alarms.
