Ericsson and Entel Chile renew strategic partnership until 2018

Entel has renewed its strategic partnership with Ericsson through to the year 2018 to supply its 4G LTE network on the APT700MHz band, as well as the modernisation of its 2G, 3G and 4G network access on six different frequency bands. The Evolved Packet Core network is built on the Evolved Packet Gateway (EPG), an application on the SSR 8000 smart services router family.

Antonio Büchi, CEO of Entel, said: “This is a major milestone because now we will truly be able to have 4G anytime and anywhere. Our customers and users in general will enjoy faster speeds, greater coverage, and a more uniform service, both outdoors and indoors.”

Ericsson continues as the preferred supplier of Entel’s 2G, 3G and 4G networks and extends the partnership programme which delivers consultancy services in the areas of technology, business and marketing. The new LTE network on the APT700 MHz band will be a multi-standard radio access network supported by Ericsson’s Antenna Integrated Radio (AIR) unit, part of the RBS 6000 family. This solution significantly reduces integration and installation time as well as energy consumption.
