SIGFOX has just completed a record round of fundraising totaling €100 million from financial and strategic backers in Europe, the U.S. and Asia.
The company, which is currently deploying its network with Arqiva in 10 U.K. cities, will use this new equity round to accelerate worldwide roll out of its dedicated Internet of Things network in Europe, Asia and the Americas.
The composition of investors, which includes big industrials and telcos, is unique in French tech’s history and proves once again that the worldwide potential of SIGFOX’s technology and strategy is huge. The quality of the telco and industry partners is impressive. Telefonica and NTT Docomo are both among the world’s top 10 telcos. SK Telecom is Korea’s largest telecommunications company.
GDSuez, Air Liquide and Eutelsat bring a range of global perspectives in sectors such as energy, gases for industry and health and communications satellites.
Combined with SIGFOX’s existing partners, including Intel Capital, these new investors give SIGFOX a worldwide footprint. Moreover, other telcos will be welcome to join as capital participants in the future with the objective of standardizing the SIGFOX technology during the company’s worldwide roll out.
This D-series round follows three previous rounds totaling €30 million.
