Ericsson has announced that it has acquired Redwood City, CA-based Sentilla Corp., a provider of IT infrastructure intelligence software. The deal enhances Ericsson’s ability to help service providers support IT organisations that are struggling to overcome new network complexities introduced by mobility and the cloud.
Sentilla develops software for optimal performance, real-time workload management and intelligent deployment decision-making in complex multi-technology environments.
The company’s capabilities across data gathering, performance monitoring, policy engine and reporting complement Ericsson Cloud Manager and Ericsson Expert Analytics, providing key functionality that supports advanced data centre and cloud management solutions.
Elisabetta Romano, Vice President and Head of OSS and Service Enablement, Business Unit Support Solutions at Ericsson, said: "As more businesses leverage mobility and cloud-based applications, the unique combination of automation and just-in-time intelligence that we can provide enables necessary agility and responsiveness. As a result, Ericsson helps drive increased operational and financial efficiency."
Mike Kaul, CEO of Sentilla, said: "By combining our capabilities with key Ericsson offerings, we can support dynamic optimisation of workloads across physical, virtual and cloud infrastructures, including constantly changing data centre environments. This functionality is imperative for service providers that want to continue to deliver a compelling enterprise offering."
Sentilla was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Redwood City, CA. The company serves a global customer base that spans service providers and large enterprise users.
The acquisition includes all employees, comprising a team of highly-skilled experts. Sentilla will be incorporated into Business Unit Support Solutions.
