Hytera expands PD6 Series of DMR two-way portable radios

Hytera has introduced two new handheld two-way DMR radios in its PD6 Series to the European market. The PD665 and PD685, which are designed for professional use, join the already available basic model in the PD6 Series, the PD605.

The PD605 basic version has no display window or keypad. The PD665 features a display window and limited keypad, while the PD685 (pictured above) comes with display window and full keypad. The display facilitates the operation of the radios to help control the wide range of functions.

Both handhelds are very lightweight and robust. They are only 27mm deep, making them particularly compact. They are encased in a high-quality aluminium metal frame and with a weight of only 310g (PD685) making them comfortable and easy to carry for long operations.

With the lithium-ion battery with 1500 mAh included in the delivery, the PD685/PD685G achieves an operating time in digital operation of at least 16 hours. With the optionally available 2000-mAh battery, it will even be 20 hours.

The radios can be operated in TDMA Direct Mode and Pseudo Trunking. This assignment of the available bandwidth with double the number of channels leads to a significant easing of the increasing shortage of frequencies in the operation of DMR mobile radio systems compared with analogue mobile radio systems. The frequency range in UHF stretches from 400 MHz to 527 MHz.

While the radios were developed in compliance with the ETSI mobile radio standard Digital Mobile Radio (DMR), they support the conventional DMR operation and can also be operated in analogue mode. That makes the PD685/PD685G a good choice for the move to digital mobile radio.

Additional functions include:
•    Every radio of the PD6 series is also available with GPS. Variants with GPS support GIS applications, such as AVL and Telemetry
•    Secure DMR encryption with the encryption algorithm ARC4 (40 bit) in accordance with DMRA or with optional algorithms AES128 and AES256 (128 and 256 bit)
•    Expansion interface for applications
•    Man-down function (optional)
•    Leasing function
•    Versatile voice calls, such as individual call, group call, broadcast call, emergency call.

Dust and water protection in accordance with IP67 (30-minute immersion in a water depth of up to 1 m) is standard for the PD6 series. In addition, the user can access an extensive portfolio of accessories with which the handhelds can be equipped for individual requirements in the field.
