The product is a new off the shelf vertical application for managing parking in a smarter way and achieving a double goal: improve urban experience for citizens and increase overall sustainability, livability and economy levels for cities.
Following the unveiling of the solution in November 2013, Paradox Engineering is now designing a number of pilot projects in Europe and USA for municipalities looking for efficient ways to manage parking lots and unlock the value of parking-related data.

Nowadays, traffic and parking availability continue to be very sensitive topics for cities. A large majority of European citizens live in an urban environment, with over 60% living in cities of over 10.000 inhabitants. Urban mobility accounts for 40% of all CO2 emissions of road transport and up to 70% of other pollutants from transport.
How to enhance mobility, while at the same time reducing congestion, accidents and pollution, is a common challenge to all European cities. Congestion in the EU costs nearly 100 billion Euro, accounting for 1% of the EU's annual GDP, according to the EU Commission, Directorate General for Mobility and Transport.

PE.AMI Parking Management solution includes hardware (nodes and gateways) and software (central management suite) components to build an ultra-low power wireless full mesh self-configuring and self-healing network to collect, store and bi-directionally deliver advanced information about parking lots, specifically the presence of a car, the duration of the parking and its payment.
Collected data allow real time information about parking to be available and used by municipalities and companies to implement services for drivers before and during their trips via variable message signs, static way finding signs, web, smartphone applications, and text messages (SMS).
This will enable people to make more informed travel choices and, if driving, find a parking space faster. Moreover the systematic collection of information on how the parking resources are used over time will allow cities to develop predictive models whose applications are the key for planning and therefore to support livability and sustainability for cities.
PE.AMI Parking Management solution adds to Paradox Engineering’s PE.AMI platform, the natively multipurpose IPv6/6LoWPAN full mesh wireless network infrastructure, ready for the Internet of Things, which was specifically conceived and designed to support multiple Smart City applications such as lighting management, advanced meter reading, traffic signal management, solid waste management, now parking management and many more.
