Galtronics unveils omni-directional antenna for in-building DAS

Galtronics Corporation has launched the patent pending PEAR S5606i ultra flat in-building antenna, which it claims is the industry’s thinnest omni-directional antenna for in-building ceiling mount applications such as Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).

This ultra-flat antenna combines minimalist design with high performance. At just 1.1-inch thick with a diameter of 11.8 inches, the slim profile of the PEAR S5606i is ideal for the aesthetic of modern, high-tech buildings, low-ceiling environments or where building owners demand antennas, which are as unobtrusive as possible.

Operating from 698-960/1710-2700MHz, the vertically polarised antenna can be installed on low ceilings. A mounting kit designed by Galtronics makes for easy installation of the antenna on either an acoustic or hard ceiling.

“We have found the best performance in the small form factor,” said Ben Bar, Galtronics EVP sales and marketing. “The biggest challenge for Galtronics in developing the thinnest in-building antenna design was getting it to a low VSWR [voltage standing wave ratio - the ratio of the forward transmitted power to the reflected power from the antenna], which the company has achieved and is in the process of obtaining a patent for this innovation.”

In addition to its ultra-flat design, the PEAR S5606i weighs in at just 0.86 lbs. The omni-antenna’s very low-profile, white radome can be painted in different colours to match the surroundings of a DAS installation, while delivering the best performance for an antenna its size at 698MHz.
