Kenwood partner Koning & Hartman has recently won a contract to deliver 10,700 Kenwood portable radios to be used by the train crews of Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways).
Voice communications employing portable radios is key to the operational safety, security and efficiency for Dutch Railways and the European tender process for this project commenced more than a year ago.
The selection process compared the technologies and models of radio available on the market and Dutch Railways selected Koning & Hartman's solution, which employs the proven Kenwood NEXEDGE NX-320E digital hand-portable radios.
In collaboration with JVCKENWOOD Belgium, Koning & Hartman has been appointed to deliver the 10,700 radios, additional equipment, accessories and after sales support to Dutch Railways over the next five years with all of the NEXEDGE devices to be shipped by the end of 2014.
Meanwhile, in the UK, Kenwood has secured Network Rail certification for the supply of NEXEDGE to UK rail customers.
