Telekom Austria Group M2M and Wyconn, a Vienna based developer of hardware and software for M2M solutions, have introduced a new product line of enterprise network routers with embedded wireless connectivity.
Installing and managing secure and reliable enterprise networks can be a challenge. This is particularly the case for M2M applications where network devices are widely dispersed in the field and deploying technical personnel is costly. The Wyconn network routers are specifically designed to keep installation and maintenance costs low.
“As a connectivity service provider, we use remote device management for millions of customers’ internet access devices on a daily basis. With Wyconn we can offer this functionality to our enterprise customers. IT managers, administrators and system integrators at SMEs and large corporations can now easily access and manage their network devices, even when there is no WAN connection available,” said Richard Palmetzhofer, managing director for sales at Telekom Austria Group M2M.
“We are impressed by Wyconn’s approach to reduce installation complexity and costs through the built in SIMs and the cloud-based management platform, and are looking forward to partnering with them during the roll-out across Europe.”
The built-in wireless communication module comes with a pre-integrated SIM-chip by Telekom Austria Group M2M. Installation is as simple as plugging-in the power supply and can be performed by any person on site without the need for specially trained staff.
The devices immediately and wirelessly connect to the cloud based device management platform through a secure communication channel, where system administrators remotely configure the devices or simply activate a default configuration template.
The four new Wyconn products, which will be available in Q2/2013, include options for OEMs to equip M2M products like smart homes with intelligent gateway devices as well as models designed to retrofit existing networks such as branch connectivity.
The different models come with additional accessories, including battery packs, and each product comes in its own distinctive colour (cherry, mango, lime, and grape).
“Our approach is based on more than ten years’ experience of network deployment and management for some of Europe’s largest firms,” said Adi Reschenhofer, founder and CEO of Wyconn.
“After seeing them struggling, we have spent the last year designing a radically new approach - one that’s much simpler to deliver, install, and manage, even on a very large scale. With Telekom Austria Group M2M we have found an ideal partner to provide us with reliable, global connectivity services and to support us in our international go-to-market.”
