Giesecke & Devrient (G&D)’s SkySIM Argo in-car solution has now been certified in compliance with the international ISO/TS 16949 standard, the company announced this week (14 November 2013).
SkySIM Argo is designed specifically for use in motor vehicles. The solution underwent comprehensive quality testing focused on the relevant processes and procedures at G&D’s card production sites in Munich and Nitra, Slovakia. Thanks to this certification, G&D now meets one of the key requirements that the international automotive industry places on its suppliers.
And as the centerpiece of automotive networking solutions, it’s not just the SkySIM Argo in-car’s especially robust design that attracts attention: it also supports the innovative subscription and lifecycle management solutions that Giesecke & Devrient makes available for its card solutions, the company claimed.
ISO/TS 16949 certification is an important step forward for Giesecke & Devrient in its quest to become a successful supplier to the international automotive industry. Also known as the “automotive standard”, this ISO/TS benchmark brings together the automotive industry’s particular requirements and is designed to ensure that the suppliers concerned adhere to an extremely rigorous quality standard. The certificate will be officially handed to G&D in February 2014.
SkySIM Argo in-car is one of the products in Giesecke & Devrient’s M2M portfolio. This SIM was specifically developed to be integrated and used in cars and is qualified to the Automotive Electronics Council’s AEC-Q100 standard. SkySIM Argo in-car operates in the temperature range from -40° to +105° Celsius and offers an impressive level of mechanical robustness.
