BridgeWave Communications, the 4G millimeter wave backhaul solutions provider, has introduced Flex4G-UHA, the newest member of its Flex4G family of high-capacity millimeter wave wireless solutions. The new Flex4G-UHA is currently undergoing customer trials with several leading mobile carriers.
As mobile data consumption increases exponentially, operators are looking for backhaul solutions that provide the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) with the flexibility to easily scale to meet tomorrow’s bandwidth demands. BridgeWave’s Flex4G-UHA has been designed to alleviate the strain on backhaul connections by combining advanced radio and modem capabilities with carrier-grade Ethernet features.
Given the abundance of spectrum in the 80GHz band, BridgeWave embraced BPSK, a modulation scheme to achieve much improved link budget at full gigabit per second capacity compared to high QAM systems. In addition, Flex4G-UHA incorporates BridgeWave’s patented AdaptRate technology to achieve an additional 10dB link budget gain when switching from 1250MHz to 125MHz channel bandwidths.
BridgeWave’s highly-integrated Silicon Germanium (SiGe) chipset reduces complexity and power consumption while improving reliability. Carrier Ethernet services are provided through the use of an integrated low-latency switch supporting jumbo frames while including Quality of Service (QoS), VLAN support, Provider Bridge (Q-in-Q) along with Ethernet OAM management.
Flex4G-UHA provides comprehensive timing support required for 4G/LTE deployments, including Synchronous Ethernet and IEEE1588.v2 with hardware-based time-stamping for one-step or two-step clocks. With low power consumption and PoE++ capability, Flex4G-UHA is a truly environmentally friendly, zero-footprint all-outdoor solution.
“BridgeWave’s Flex4G-UHA presents a unique combination of advantages for evolving next generation 4G/LTE networks,” said Amir Makleff, president and CEO of BridgeWave Communications. “Providing multi-gigabit transport over extended distances while achieving high link budget gain makes Flex4G-UHA a natural choice for cost-conscious carriers to meet exploding data traffic demands with the lowest TCO.”
