Becrypt and Getac are launching the first secure Android 4.1 tablet solution suitable for defence and government markets. This follows last month’s announcement of a new technology partnership between the two companies to develop future-proof systems for industries where security is critical.
The fully integrated solution maked its debut at this year’s DSEI defence and security exhibition in London between 10-13 September 2013.
The Getac Z710 7” Android 4.1 rugged tablet provides a more secure system to support a range of bespoke applications that government and defence markets can use with confidence. Aimed at sectors that require a fully portable device, it weighs just 800g and has a battery that gives more than 10 hours of operational time. It includes a 1D/2D barcode reader that enables rapid data capture – up to three times faster than other devices using software-based scanners.
The Android operating system featured on the new tablet includes device encryption, system hardening, peripheral control and management, which significantly improve the ability to enforce and audit security policies while reducing support and maintenance overheads.
Other significant features of the Getac Z710 include high sensitivity advanced GPS technology which is accurate to within 1.5 metres, high frequency RFID reader, WiFi, Bluetooth and 3.5G WWAN.
Engineered for extreme conditions, the ultra-sensitive touchscreen can be operated even whilst wearing gloves. The new device is also certified to some of the most exacting United States military standards including MIL-STD-810G and IP65, protecting against shocks, drops, vibration and water/dust ingress.
Peter Molyneux, president of Getac UK, said: “The Getac Z710 Android 4.1 rugged tablet coupled with Becrypt’s industry-leading security capabilities offers a powerful solution to the market. Becrypt takes an innovative approach to solving security challenges to provide accredited yet flexible solutions.
“Together, our customers in the government, military, defence and public sectors can trust us to deliver the highest levels of security, coupled with reliable, rugged technology, to protect their confidential and sensitive data and drive productivity and performance.”
Dr Bernard Parsons, CEO at Becrypt, said: “As tablet adoption continues to grow in security-conscious markets we are delighted to bring this joint offering with Getac to market. At Becrypt we are committed to the development of innovative yet practical solutions that protect data on a variety of form factors, enabling our customers to take advantage of the latest mobile technology.”
The new Becrypt and Getac solution will also be on show at the National Conference of the Police Superintendents’ Association being held at Chesford Grange Hotel, Kenilworth, 10-11 September 2013.
