Hytera's DMR two-way radio solution was recently used by the organising staff charged with running the 14th World Championships in Athletics, held at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on 10-18 August 2013.
Over 2,000 athletes from 206 countries participated in the 47 competition events, while the total number of people attending over the eight days reached 380,000 people, including guests of honor, athletes, fans, and representatives of the media.
Hytera supplied 320 PD78X/PD70X digital portables, MD78X mobile radios and 2two DMR Trunking Pro System DS-6210 for use during the competitions.
The DMR solution was designed to ensure that the whole stadium was completely covered by the RF signal. There was a seamless connection between the two networked base stations to secure all internal communications, particularly for long distance track events such as the marathon and walking race.
The referees were all equipped with PD78X/PD70X hand portable DMR terminals to guaranteed that precise results for the competitions were transmitted on time.
Hytera engineers were on-site throughout the game to monitor the communications system and ensure the radio communication quality requirements were met. Hytera said the “outstanding performances of Hytera products and staff were highly commended by the local operator and end users”.
