Three Wholesale partners with Mobius for secure NFC payments and Internet backup

Machine-to-machine (M2M) specialist Mobius has selected Three Wholesale to power the retail and hospitality trade’s secure connected devices.

Three’s Ultrafast network will power NFC and contactless payment terminals, which will be used to process customers’ orders and transactions. It will also be used to back up fixed-line data connections during outages.

Mobius holds Payment Card Industry accreditation and provides a high security private mobile pathway, sending all data across secure connections. The high data M2M market is a key focus area for Three, which already carries 42% of the UK’s mobile data traffic.

Lynda Burton, director of Three Wholesale, said: ‘The M2M market is going Ultrafast. Businesses are seeking longevity in their connectivity solutions, speeds that often exceed local fixed-lines and tariffs that support large data consumption. The Three network is available to the M2M market through carefully selected wholesale partnerships. So we’re delighted to announce this latest agreement with Mobius.’

Douglas Gilmour, managing director of Mobius said: ‘The latest connected devices face a serious threat from hackers and criminals. It is therefore important to make sure retailers and restaurants use a secure service to protect their customers’ data. A fast, reliable data network is required for this which is why we partnered with Three. I look forward to working closely with Three to provide the latest data devices.’
