Hytera provides DMR system to Cachoeirinha in Brazil

Hytera has supplied DMR equipment to the city government of Cachoeirinha, located in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre, Brazil.

The city, which covers 43km² and houses approximately 120,000 inhabitants, suffered from poor mission critical communications equipment with obsolete vehicles and a poorly structured central security system.

The government wanted to upgrade its analogue radio system and establish a city-wide command and control system using the most advanced wireless IP technology, visualized dispatching and location positioning technology.

Hytera’s DMR digital communication solution with professional dispatcher system SmartDispatch was chosen with portable PD78X and mobile MD78X terminals. The SmartDispatch system was deployed in the monitoring centre of the public security department, where the coordination team could control the field teams.

The use of advanced DMR technology has helped the government overcome the challenges caused by the out of date analogue system and now provides them with fit for purpose digital experience. By using digital radio technology, the signal coverage of the whole city's communications system has been enlarged with improved audio quality.

The rugged and waterproof portable radios provide no worry to the mobile teams when dealing with various emergency situations. The GPS positioning and visualized dispatching features now allow the public security department to allocate its resources more efficiently for complete city-wide security control.

Mr. de Souza Airton Espíndola, Security Secretary of Cachoeirinha, commented: ‘With an extensive video surveillance system and a well structured central radio communication, Cachoeirinha has became the second safest city in the entire metropolitan area.
