Three Wholesale’s new machine-to-machine platform helps Arkessa connect the security, automotive and medical markets

Three UK’s Ultrafast network chosen to power Arkessa’s M2M service

Machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions provider Arkessa is the first to launch services powered by Three Wholesale’s new M2M platform. The company, which provides data solutions for systems integrators and end users, will take advantage of Three’s Ultrafast network to offer embedded data SIM cards for devices requiring high capacity and speed to stream video content and other data.

The devices it will power include CCTV cameras, number plate recognition technology and remote health monitoring systems, all of which will come bundled with bespoke data packages. Arkessa’s clients include some of the UK’s largest companies in security, transportation and healthcare.

The operator’s new wholesale platform enables M2M providers to launch a data Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) in as little as two weeks, significantly reducing the time and expenditure typically associated with creating such a service.

New and existing MVNO partners have access to Three’s Ultrafast network. This is currently supported by DC-HSDPA technology, which today covers 55% of the UK population and will reach 80% by the end of March.

Three’s existing HSPA+ network already covers nearly 98% of the UK population. In the second half of this year, it will incorporate the 1800MHz spectrum already acquired by Three to add even more coverage and capacity for supporting data-rich connected devices.

Lynda Burton, director of Three Wholesale, said: ‘Our M2M capability and Ultrafast network provides Arkessa and our other partners with a robust platform to connect and manage a huge range of devices and applications.

‘Our network was built for the internet and is well-placed to support the explosion of connected devices. Our commitment to sharing the latest Ultrafast technologies with our partners without charging a premium makes us a natural home for data-rich services as we continue to expand our coverage and capacity.’

Andrew Orrock, managing director of Arkessa, said: ‘As thought leaders in the Internet of Things and M2M, Arkessa prides itself on bringing innovation to our customers and we are delighted to be the first to launch services on Three's new Ultrafast Wholesale platform.

‘The Three platform completes Arkessa's network portfolio of mobile networks and delivers more choice and benefits to our customers that is not available elsewhere.  All networks are linked across the Ark, our Platform as a Service offering that enables users to conduct and control their entire connectivity estates irrespective of transport technology through one portal, Emport.’
