Use of E-Blink’s wireless remote radio head solution with added wireless link allows operator to expand more quickly without having to use traditional coaxial cable systems

E-Blink wireless fronthaul system supports Orange Niger’s network expansion

E-Blink, the supplier of alternative solutions for base station sites in mobile communication networks, today (10 January 2013) announced that it recently installed its wireless fronthaul solution in Orange Niger’s network.  

The E-Blink wireless fronthaul solution, which is available to mobile network operators (MNOs) worldwide, provides a connection between the base station and the network antenna through a wireless link. This modular system, which helps MNOs control both operating and capital costs, can be deployed in single-sector or multi-sector configurations. 

‘This project with our global partner Orange showed once again how E-Blink’s wireless fronthaul solution, which can be designed and adapted to virtually any physical or environmental situation, cuts operator costs and reduces installation time,’ said E-Blink CEO Alain Rolland. 

‘In addition to a solution that helps get our network expansion up and running sooner than traditional coaxial cable systems, we wanted equipment that would prevent feeder loss and degradation in a hot and humid climate,’ said Orange Niger’s CTIO Claude Arrigoni. ‘We are very pleased with the installation and performance of E-Blink’s wireless fronthaul solution.’ 

E-Blink’s solution allowed Orange Niger to avoid time-consuming and costly civil works, such as digging trenches and installing cable, to connect the base station and the network antenna.  

How it works

French company E-Blink says its aim is ‘to revolutionize mobile networks by creating a new industry standard’, which it refers to as ‘the wireless fronthaul’. E-Blink's Wireless Remote Radio Head solution builds on the benefits of remote radio heads and adds the flexibility of a wireless link. 

It eliminates the need for coaxial cables or fibre optics by providing a radio link between base stations located on the ground and the network antennas. This cuts operating costs and capital costs by dramatically reducing the amount of time operators spend on site searches, zoning, negotiation and installation.
