Swedish rugged devices manufacturer beefs up management team to take advantage of growing market for rugged mobile computing

Handheld strengthens management and sales team

Rugged PDA, smartphones and mobile devices manufacturer Handheld Group has made several new top appointments to strengthen the organization of its management and sales for continued global growth.

Torkel Zettergren will serve as the new managing director of Handheld Scandinavia AB. In this position, Zettergren will be responsible for operations in the Scandinavia region, an important home region where Handheld has a very strong footprint and large market share. Zettergren has worked with sales and key accounts in Handheld Scandinavia since 2005, and has acted as the company’s sales manager for the last two years.

Handheld APAC’s managing director, Christian Löfvendahl, will take on the position of managing director  for Handheld Europe AB. Löfvendahl will be stationed at Handheld’s headquarters in Lidköping, Sweden, and will also retain his position as managing director for Handheld APAC’s Pty Ltd.

Löfvendahl has served as managing director for Handheld’s Asia-Pacific subsidiary for two years. He is a product of Handheld Group’s successful International Management Trainee Program and has also held a key position at Handheld’s US subsidiary.

Thomas Löfblad will become the new vice president of global sales. Löfblad is one of the founders of Handheld and has held leading positions in the company for a decade, including serving as managing director of both Handheld Scandinavia and Handheld Europe. He has held key management and marketing positions in several international growth companies.

Torkel Zettergren, Christian Löfvendahl and Thomas Löfblad will take up their respective new positionson 1 January 2013. Several new sales positions have also been appointed at Handheld’s subsidiaries in Australia and the Netherlands.

‘These new appointments will strengthen management and sales, in anticipation of continued strong growth and demand for our rugged mobile computers,’ said Jerker Hellström, CEO, Handheld Group.

‘We have seen the market increase as many users favour rugged mobile computers for field work, and we also have several new product launches in the coming months that we believe will be very attractive and will require a strong, sales-focused organization.’

Handheld’s lineup of rugged PDAs and mobile computers is specifically developed for use in tough environments in industries such as geomatics, logistics, forestry, public transportation, construction, mining, field service, utilities, maintenance, public safety, military and security.
