Simoco Australasia, which incorporates ComGroup, has signed a new contract to supply radio equipment to the Australian International Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition until 2017.
Simoco will be deploying over 200 portable and mobile radios and infrastructure for event management staff, as well as a repeater system that will utilise a single site Multiax Trunking system to provide secure and reliable communications.
Covering the entire site, the repeater system will ensure that there is fast, consistent access time for all groups involved and should a single base station channel fail, communications will continue for all staff via alternate channels.
In addition, it is anticipated that a further 300 radios and complete event management solution will be supplied at a later stage to the contracting event companies supporting the Exposition and the Airshow.
The Exposition and Airshow takes place every two years and aims to promote the development of Australian industrial manufacturing, information and communications technology resources in the aviation, aerospace and defence sectors.
The 2013 event will be held at Avalon Airport, Melbourne from 26 February to 3 March and is supported by the State Government of Victoria, the City of Greater Geelong and the Australian Defence Force, in particular the Royal Australian Air Force.
Rebecca Ross, Rental & Sales Business Development Manager, said: ‘For this event we offered an end-to-end solution with a purpose-built infrastructure and multi-channel system perfect for large scale event deployment over a wide geographic area. In addition to supplying the technology, we are also providing technical staff to support the event to ensure it runs as smoothly as possible.
‘Winning this new contract highlights that Simoco is a serious player in delivering rented communications systems in event management, especially across Australasia,’ said Ross.
Greg Campbell, Head of Corporate Services, Australian International Airshow & Aerospace & Defence Exposition added: ‘The Australian International Airshow is a three day, action packed public event, with world famous public flying displays and an amazing array of aircraft to view up close including a variety of military aircraft from the Australian, American and Singapore air forces.
‘With Simoco and Simoco Australasia’s track record in supplying a communication system for the Australian Formula One Grand Prix, we knew that we would get a radio communications system that meets our complex requirements for the event.’
