Warwickshire Fire Service adopts Arqiva Fire Mobilisation solution

Arqiva, the communications infrastructure and media services company, has won a £285,000 contract to deploy its new Fire Mobilisation station-end product at all of Warwickshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service fire stations by the end of June 2012.

The deployment will provide Warwickshire Fire and Rescue service with a state-of-the-art station-end mobilising communications system to ensure that they can quickly and reliably respond to all reported incidents. 

The new system, once installed, will replace obsolete station-end hardware and transmitter equipment, ensuring that robust, resilient and reliable station equipment with built-in business continuity is in place. Emergency calls that come through to the central command and control room will now quickly alert attending crews at the closest station to the incident, and transmit messages to on-call retained fire-fighters’ pagers. 

Arqiva’s long term specialist experience and flexible approach will allow Warwickshire Fire and Rescue to manage the upgrade with the minimum risk to the public, in line with their needs and within their budget.

Abdul Rashid, IT and Communications Manager at Warwickshire, said: ‘We wanted a partner that would have a full comprehension of our business, improve the reliability of equipment at stations, and, above all, improve the operational efficiency for the assurance of the public’s safety. The Service has recently been successful in its bid for £1.8 million of Government funding to support the upgrade of its Fire Control mobilising systems. This means that we are now able to look for new ways of economically upgrading our communications infrastructure.’

The Fire Mobilisation station-end product has been developed in conjunction with Multitone, the inventors of paging technology and used by 85% of the UK’s fire services. Arqiva will replace all of the racks, aerials, transmitters and power supplies at Warwickshire’s fire stations, with the company also managing the initial surveys, integration, installation and project management of the roll out.
