DMR set for test session in Milan in April

The Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) Association has announced its first interoperability test session in its push towards unified international standards. The test will take place in Milan at the end of April.

The association has been working since August 2009 to define a list of interoperability tests, methodology, testing laboratory criteria and a test result verification process for both conventional and trunked modes of operation.

Tested vendor-interoperable DMR systems have been deployed in the field, most notably as the communications infrastructure during the 2009 G8 summit in Aquila, Italy. But the Milan test session will help formalise the testing process to give customers greater confidence.

Certificates will be issued by the DMR Association for equipment that successfully passes the testing process, which will be made public on the DMR Association website.
