Kenwood launches two new radios in Europe
Kenwood has launched new professional radios approved with ATEX Directive 94/9/EC, which regulates the manufacturer and quality control of equipment designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres in EU countries.

Kenwood said a professional radio has an advantage over a mobile phone because it provides 'immediate' and 'reliable' communications to a whole team or group.

The radios are intended for sites with an 'explosive atmosphere' such as oil refineries, gas and chemical plants, quarries and mines.

The new TK-2260EX/3260EX have been built to satisfy strict regulations by incorporating 'advanced design features'.

ATEX Directive 94/9/EC, a European CE marking directive, which regulates the free distribution of products within Europe, has been in force since July.

Kenwood is also looking to expand to countries outside the European Union.
