DAMM’s TetraFlex puts St Petersburg in touch

A 32-site DAMM TetraFlex network covering St Petersburg and the surrounding areas in northwest Russia is now fully operational. The TETRA network is used by the city’s public safety community, civil defence arm and a range of utilities, commercial and industrial companies.

The network is operated by the Tetrasvyaz consortium and has 20,000 subscribers with a top capacity of 65,000. The network infrastructure is equipped with a combination of in- and outdoor TetraFlex base stations with dispatchers optimised for Russian speaking users, Log Servers, Packet Data services and other options. A key feature is the ability to deploy additional base stations without interrupting active users on the network.

In addition, a mobile solution has been provided for rapid response services in rural areas thanks to the lightweight and small dimensions of the TetraFlex IP65 protected outdoor base station. The solution can be switched on in a few minutes and communicates with the rest of the system via a satellite channel.

• DAMM Cellular Systems has won a contract to provide a TetraFlex solution to the Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) pipeline in northern India. GAIL needs a secure digital radio system at two of its compressor stations to meet mobile and control room voice/data requirements.
