SELEX Elsag wins contracts in UK and Italy

SELEX Elsag has won a €20m contract as part of the Enterprise Temporary Group consortium to set up a regional radio communication system in the Lombardy region of Italy.

The system will be used to manage emergencies and civil protection interforce headquarters activities.

The Enterprise Temporary Group, which includes Telecom Italia, GEG, Beta 80 and Larimart (a SELEX company), will deal with the technological enlargement and update of radio networks. SELEX Elsag will supply 450 DMR simulcast VHF and UHF repeaters and 22 TETRA sites, 90 radio links and ‘thousands’ of terminals.

SELEX Elsag has also signed the second phase of a contract with the Aircraft Carrier Alliance to supply TETRA communications to the two new Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers being built for the UK Royal Navy. The first phase involved the design, while the second comprises the manufacture and testing of the system and the supply of more than 500 handsets.
