Icom includes dPMR in its IDAS digital range

Icom has strengthened its range of digital radio solutions to include the new European digital protocol, dPMR.

The new dPMR variant will provide European customers with a wider choice, including European type analogue signalling/trunking such as 5-Tome/B11S1200/MPT-1327.

Icom said all its IDAS digital models are upgradable to dPMR as the latter uses the same hardware as current IDAS radios. The dPMR range is virtually identical to the IDAS range featuring handhelds (IC-F3162 series), mobiles (IC-F5062 series) and repeaters (IC-F5100).

All the products are capable of providing the same digital benefits of digital/analogue mixed mode operation, 6.25KHz spectrum efficient channel spacing, audio performance, noise cancelling properties and secure communication.

Icom has divided its range into four product categories based on the sophistication of the customer need: dPMR446 for licence-free use; Tier1 for licenced PMR where repeaters are not required, such as building sites, shops and hotels; Tier 2 for licenced PMR with base station and repeater functionality allowing interfaces via gateways and aimed at business, industrial and local government; and Tier 3 – to come soon – will offer managed multi-site complex systems for large businesses or government services.
